On GILD's drug pricing

We have to wear two hats: one for an investor and one for a socialist. Hope to balance between the two. Most successful investors share their wealth with the poor. I share it via my income taxes compulsorily when I make money.

GILD is not doing great recently for stock holders. If the company is not successful, less funds would be fueled into exploring new drugs. For poor countries, prevention is more effective than the cures.

No good leaders

I'm neutral in politics as I want to seek the truths and hope to help our country.

If we cannot find good leaders, we may have to outsource it to other country (the constitution does not say we cannot and China is not bad LMBAO). Or, we let the computer to govern. At least, the computer does not have his/her own agenda, is totally honest and think more billion times before it expresses his ideas. The above is a humor just in case.

Returning to reality, very seldom we have the same political party having presidents for 3 consecutive terms. But, this could be the exception. I hope I wake up from a nightmare.

Big mouth and small brain

Trump's big mouth moves faster than his small brain.

He is NO presidential material. So is Hillary. We have to choose the lesser of two devils. Both should go to jail. We REALLY have to fix the political system (and education system with too many 'educated' voters for Trump). We may be in the first generation that we do not have good leaders. Start with campaign financing, promises, budget...

Solar companies and UBer

As in my posts many months ago, I stated to stay away from solar stocks even the best ones. They cannot compete with cheap Chinese solar panels (we fixed it by banning them to come in) and higher quality from EU. With falling oil prices, you can only compete with tax credits. The ad says "the government pays for the panels". What happens if the subsidies stop?

UBer works better in China. Every city folk carries at least one mobile phone and their equivalent Apple Pay has been popular for a long while. In addition, they do not carry guns and they do not commit serious crimes (if you do and are caught, you die). The only obstacles are traffic jams and the efficient (clean and advance) subway systems.

Seeds falling on fertile soil will prosper

“Excellent book (Complete the Art of Investing I guess), recommend to all investors… great knowledge. It's fine tuned my investing strategies… Your book is hard to set aside, as I read it all the time learning good techniques and analysis of stocks, ETF...” - Aileron, July, 2016.

It is hard to satisfy all readers as everyone's knowledge, background, risk tolerance... are different. This reader has the right idea to integrate his (or her) current strategies with what he learns from my (or any) books on investing.

Will take a break on books and be back to investing and other tasks. The father of modern trading died losing most of his money. He did not follow his own preaching. Do not want to commit the same error.

Most books are close to final. Will upgrade them less frequently. I write books for fun. So far, all book profits (they're very small)  are donated to charities. If you find the books are useful, please write a review in Amazon.com.

Taking a break

I try to make the Table of Content the first post (actually last) in July for easier reference.

I will re-post some I did during this period but not published here. Most of them were posted in Seeking Alpha.

* Defending China

Can China say no to us?

One belt, One Road.  More.

The politicians cannot fix our problems and use China as a convenient scapegoat. Many newspapers, TV stations... want to sell their stuffs by giving what you want to hear/see by twisting the facts.

As a Chinese American, I am naturally biased but I'll not let my dumb nationalism to cover my eyes or yours. There are Chinese bashers and US bashers who do not convince us as they're not using facts. They promote distrust, confrontation, ... that I try to avoid.

Tibet. This comment has over 350 'likes' in an Economist's article. I estimate there are  3,500 reads (using 1 'like'  to 10 readers) on this long comment. Initially I faced many resentment from folks esp. from Tibetans in other articles.

Human Right. This blog has ignited discussions and scored some points for China. This one and the last one change the image of China for some.

China is a victim instead of an aggressor for last 250 years. A MUST read for Brits and Japanese.
