China's
president is selected by the handful of party members. It is like a CEO
controlled by the board in most large public companies in the USA. The
difference is the term for China's presidents.
When we are still
arguing who's on top on the high-speed rail, China has built a huge
network from nothing. Remember China was almost the last country to use
steam locomotives and they could not build a reliable bicycle in the
50s. A lot of policies here are argued not for the merits but for which
party the ideas are originated.
Most Chinese presidents are
engineers and most of ours are lawyers which have more crooks (disguised as lawyers) than most
other professions. I rest my case.
