About cars

A hybrid is the best and the worst of both worlds.

I advised my son just buy the gas engine. He works at home and it would take many years to recoup the extra cost and service two drive trains.

  1. Did you advise your son to buy a new car or a used one? Buying a used car and driving it as long as possible could save thousands of dollars compounded over a long time. I would recommend him to listen to this podcast episode from ChooseFI.
Kids should be exposed to the concept of Financial Independence at an early age.

  2. He has been driving hand-over cars for many years. Now, he wants to buy a brand new car with his own money (he is also a starving artist). Let him make decisions for his own good whether it is good or bad. He is frugal in many ways and I do not think he will burn money.

    1. Correction: "hand-over" should be "hand-down".
