Singapore has a lot of resources and I do not know why Malaysia let it separated (could be for separating the Chinese and the Malays). First you have hard-working Chinese (about 70%), second its geographic location for ship routes between the East and the West. It is under a good dictator for years but no one there complains. If you're fat, the government forces you to exercise. CCTVs are every where, so it is virtually crime free. FYI, flush the toilet as you're being watched.
