A shamelss pat on the shoulder
I recommended to buy crude oil in Jan. this year - pat on the shoulder
shamelessly. The oil price will fluctuate but I'm very sure it will
return to the normal price (or the historical average price). It is the
principle of bottom and bubble as described in my books. Actually I
should call it a LAW as it never fails.
Monday QB
Let the losers win once a while. They will bring happiness to a lot of
folks such as the ones in Cleveland who have been crying since I was
born.
Does the Patriots have special treatments or advantages? No, beside the larger market, good couch and management (as opposed to the dynasty of the Sullivan family).
What has Brady & Edelman have in common? Both are fourth round picks & both may be considered for Hall of Famers. Gronk broke the record of most touch downs in less than half of the games of the brokee.
Enough for thisMonday QB!

India card
Most if not all Indians do not understand him. You can fool the world except those who understand you.
Why India? India's enemy is Pakistan and Pakistan's friend is China and US try to contain China. It is the same as playing China card against Russia and history repeats itself by playing India card against China.

On today's financial news
* When I can order a 32 G for my camera for $10, I know the chip makers
including several I own are in trouble with over capacity. I have some winners and they
attribute the successes to Apple and other mobile technologies.
* Apple's stock takes a break from the delay of a product and it could be a buying opportunity. I sold my Apple before the Samsung's self-destruct feature - you cannot predict that without a time machine.
* While it is doing good now, Britain will experience the pain due to Brexit when many HQs move to Europe mainland.
* China's GDP will move to the 5% range as it is not a developing country any more. 10% is only sustainable for a developing country in its initial stage and the inflation rate is high.
* Opposite to the names, all trade agreements are used to disagree and/or exclude countries not joining the agreement. TPP (typo?) is used to exclude China and it may not be possible.
Free trade should not have any trade agreement: and we should buy the best offered by any country at the least cost as long as all the players play the game fairly (such as no product dumping).
* One problem of changing policy due to changing political party is the cost. No policy is perfect but we need to enhance or fix it. It is a waste of money and effort to change it when it was not invented here. This is one problem of a two-party system. We spend too much time in arguing on who is on top.

Why Apple cannot leave China
It is due to the rare earth.
My friend thanked me for the warning on the rare earth miner which is bankrupted recently.
My friend thanked me for the warning on the rare earth miner which is bankrupted recently.
Another recycled joke
In my first job just after the Vietnam War, every one
tried to date my beautiful office mate Mia except me. If we married, then her
name would be Mia Pow. She would be very popular or very unpopular without
showing her beautiful face. In any case, when she becomes a mother, she will be
Mamma Mia.
Joke of the day
My friend iMessaged me, "Have a nice tip to Europe".
I cannot find a single tip during my vacation in Europe as they usually come in pair.

Dear cousin,
It seems your email has been hacked. I cannot believe this
old trick is still being used. A world full of suckers and stupid
cheaters! Try sth new and be inventive. When you use 'Hi' instead of 'Hi Tony", your credibility plunges 100%.
----
Hi,
----
Hi,
Hope this email finds you well. I traveled to Manila, Philippines for
an urgent function. However, the chip on my credit card was confirmed
damaged as it was unable to transfer fund or pay any of my bills. Am
wondering if you can spare me $2,290 USD? I will refund you the money in
few days as soon as I return back. Please get back to me asap if you
can.
With regards,
xxx
----
Right away I sent $5,000 (just in case you need more). So, you owe me $5,000. Please refund me when you return to the USA. Let me know why $2,290, not $2,300 and how the chip was damaged. Just curious. I bet you will not send me the $5,000 as you're smarter than the cheater and the cheatee.

What's wrong with this country
In the 50s, we're the greatest nation by any measure.
In the 60s, we're getting worse starting with the wrong war.
In the 70s, we're a nation of drunks. Now, illegal drugs are being legalized.
Then we have a permissive culture, leading to a decadent age.We will be led by criminals for the first time.
What's wrong with this once-great nation? It could be we have too many coconuts in my Coconut Theory.Check out the link on A Nation of No Losers (& I have plenty of material today to update).

A computer (or a software) that would change the world
F-U, a computer program is under development. It will run in
the next election. It is born in the US, never lies, never acts
impolitely, never discriminates, is party neutral, always looks for the
long-term benefits of the country ... not to mention it is FAR, FAR
better looking than the candidates.
Wells Fargo's P/E at around 11
It could be past P/E and forward P/E should includes potential fines and customer exodus.
Good management is usually indicated by ROE while P/Es for value. My forward P/E includes debts and cash per share. Banks are hard to evaluate by metrics as it does not include the quality of loans.

2017, an interesting year
I would assign Bill running the intern program and redefining terms such as 'inhale' and 'sex' in our modern dictionary. Chelsea of course will run the Foundation and issue generous checks to Bill for his speeches on health and how to cheat successfully (a poster boy to many). The less assignment to Hillary, the better the country will be. If she loses, she will be in the big house instead of the white house. Donald will lecture on how to pay NO taxes (I've been paying far too much and I'm stupidly honest). His lawyer will be busy. The only ones I enjoy most are Ivanka and Trump's daughter as I am very shallow by any measure.
We have forgotten many important issues such as balancing the budget, sending our children to schools without afraid of being shot at...
---
I've many 'likes' for the above in Seeking Alpha, an investing site and a site I waste my life on esp. when the market is too risky. LOL.
News repeats itself
* The bonds from the Middle East should be fine once the oil price returns to the previous level (I bet it will). These countries have a lot of coconuts in my Coconut Theory. I bet they cannot diversify into other sectors; beside coconuts they have nothing.
* If the two small mobile companies are not allowed to merge, there will be a slow death unless there is a miracle.
* Wells Fargo was thought to be 'well' managed, but not; my eye glasses were broken. It belongs to many companies whose management is blinded by greed and stupidity. It includes VV, Samsung...
* Predict the economy of Australia by the rise/fall of China as it is the money source for them.
* EU is always trying to squeeze money from US companies. Should it be a family affair?
* I like Nestle products esp. they're moving to healthy choices. It is more successful than marketing in the US.
* A high tech company always builds the next better mouse trap and its stocks fluctuates. Nintendo is another example.
* Tesla has to tell me how to fix the 'detours' in the driver-less cars. The stock belongs to the rocket stocks and I have a way to handle it.

Insourcing jobs?
I watched the two candidates on bringing back jobs to America esp. on Apple. It is not feasible.
1. Where can we get the rare elements for the iPhones?
2. How to force thousands of workers to work long hours for a new phone? Robots will help but they will not create jobs here.
3. How to get the 40,000 technicians for the 'slave' wages? Look at our K-12 education system.
4. How to solve all our regulations to 'protect' our workers and give them decent wages that are many times their counter parts?
The list is written in the first sip of coffee and it could be endless. The proposed trade agreement tries to exclude China but it includes other low-wage countries such as Vietnam. When iPhone moves to Vietnam, we have to find rare earth elements and the largest mobile phone market will exclude iPhone. We use to find the biggest stone to hit on our own toes. Sigh.

A taste of Ireland (recycled)
If Ireland contributed to culinary the same as their folk songs and dances to the world, we would have a great treat. Unfortunately it is not. We went to Crack Bird. The atmosphere was romantic (i.e. dark). It is fitting in Cantonese, as it is roughly translated as “calling prostitutes”. “Crack” is fitting in English if you refer to the special spices in the chicken. In Irish, it means “well done” that I do not agree. When I see the Chinese cold noodle and Chinese sources options in the menu, I should have run away as fast as I can. The best of ‘$’ restaurants is not good enough for me. I may have to move to ‘$$’ restaurants here or I should have eaten in KFC in the next block.
The reputation is saved by Fitzpatrick’s in our day trip to Moher’s Cliff. The salmon is the best I ever have. It is tasty with the source, generous in portion and very tender. It is cafeteria food at its best.
For a small dinner after this day trip, we went to Mr. Stir Crazy. An old but young-looking man cooked in front of the store window like some ladies selling their stuffs in Europe. It is the simplest way to order: Choose the noodle, the sauce and the meat (or no meat) and pay $6 Euro. I asked him whether he was Chinese. He told me he was but did not look like one now after many facial operations. It is satisfying as I had more Euro left after the hot meal, but it could be I had been too long without Chinese food.
Here is my theory why Irish food is just so-so. I believe Irish did not have good supply of food except the potato which the best chef cannot do much. For many centuries, food here served as a need for survival and not for enjoyment. Irish may have spent too much time in their wonderful folk songs and dances. After the strenuous dances, all foods are good I guess. I hope this post will not offend my friends with the last names starting with “Mc” or “O’”.
A world full of fools
The following is from my friend Yim. I know I can cut the
message, but where should I paste. When I post, I already make it
available to Friends only. Any hints?
I do not believe Facebook is stupid enough to kill herself. Any comments? Well, we do have many stupid (judged by their actions), 'smart' (judged by their bank accounts) folks today like folks in Wells Fargo, VV, Samsung..., not to mention Hillary and Trump (we will be led by fools in a very polite term or criminals if I have to be unpolitically honest). Well, we are living in a world full of stupid folks. May be we've been eating too much pig brain (a Chinese joke).

Joke of the day
Gamma rays are the most effective tool for weight loss beside
tape worms. If you die because of the gamma rays, you will lose weight
gradually, naturally and surely.
Yellow sheep
My classmate sent me this old picture of the Mansung classmates. Could be over half a
century ago. Seems tomorrow. Time does not wait for us!
One MIT Ph.D, one doctor, one chief hospital administrator, one businessman (or two), one movie director (not sure on the face) and one yellow sheep of the class (me). We're in a class of 45 and Mansung then was just a school above the average.
It debunked all the myths in our education system. There is no need to limit the class size and provide the best PCs... Education starts at home. Do you think we can compete with the foreign students who spend at least two more hours a day in study instead of playing video games? Video games are the modern Trojan Horse.

Careful on your clicks
Hi John , First I'm not apps savvy. Here are my thoughts on solving your unsuccess in cancelling installing an apps.
Have you powered down the iPad all the way? If you did, how far is the closest Apple store? I protect myself by not clicking anything that I'm not sure esp. from the emails; sometimes I forget. To protect myself further, I use a Chrome book for all financial transactions (such as trading stocks and banking) exclusively - of course no emails.
I learn it the hard way. I clicked due to greed and curiosity. It took hold of my PC with ads. Even with all the software preventing viruses, I still do not want to use this PC for important transactions.

Joking with the Chinese waitress
This joke always works. I told the waitress from China that her Mandarin was no good as she could not understand my Mandarin.
She tried to sell me another drink. I told her due to my lack of certain enzyme I would not be responsible after the second drink.

Why the passengers in the cruise ship eat that much?
They would survive longer when the ship sinks. Does this joke work?
