That's why GDP per capita is important. Improving GDP does not mean improving living standard.
To
illustrate, we have one smart Indian engineer in. He contributes double
the GDP of an average worker. However, he brings his non-productive
grand parents in. We end up losing GDP per capita instead of gaining.
Why not Chinese? The smart one could steal our secrets.
Why not Mexican? I have already offended 30% of the world population in one simple example.
