Two signs tell one story

I just notice there are two signs in the opposite ends of the Chunnel:

1. French Unwelcome, please go back.

2. Euro only.

Reply why I am not running

My weakest point is no one can understand my English. On the second thought, it is my strongest point. When I understand the politician's hidden agenda, I do not like him or her.

If I run, Trump will ask me to show the proof of citizenship even I watched more American cartoons and Hollywood movies than he did. However, he is in the movie and making the whole country a comedy to be watched by the entire world.

In addition, I'm too honest, too caring, too polite (not to mention too handsome & having 'large hands' & real hair). In a sentence I'm lacking the attributes of a good politician.

In the last Chinese dynasty, you can buy an official job and in turn you can make money via corruption. It seems history is repeating in America.

I was told I was the legend in my own eyes.

My reply:
"I was the legend in my own eyes" only in Mr. X's eyes.

Logical or just LOL?

Trade agreement & ropes

That's why ropes (used to hang each other on trade wars as both will lose) are so popular when ever there is a trade agreement (used to exclude others besides the ones who sign the agreement). If you do not understand what I mean, you need another cup of coffee, sorry.

Dear Mr. X,

You represent the majority who have this misconception. Free trade always works if it is played fairly. You buy the best from any country at the least cost. For example, you do not want to plant sugar cane in Alaska or in Hawaii with high labor cost.

The funny thing about the banning of Chinese tires is we do not gain ONE single job and that is the original purpose. The new import goes to SE Asia countries who could not compete with Chinese tires before. That's not the way to tell Chinese we're superior at the risk of a trade war.

I blame China for not understanding American politics. They do not have to lower the prices that much, just enough to be competitive.  [This is on the 200% or so tariffs on Chinese steel.]

China does not have slave wages today and that goes to many low-wage countries such as Vietnam. It should go to India and however, India's governance is so poor that they cannot even copy a workable model from China by building a 'small economic zone'. It proves that wages is only a factor, but not important to make a difference such as infrastructure including electricity and transportation of the finished goods.

There are have many threats from China besides the rare earth elements such as our national debts to them. China today still cannot say 'No' to the US, but it will change in time. Hope your nationalism will not cover your eyes. Do not mix philosophy and idealism with real life.

Every country and every generation have its advantages and disadvantages. We are the victims of our own success. With the high-living standard, we cannot compete with low-wage jobs in labor-extensive industries. The $20 per hour can never compete with the $2 per hour that is available in many countries beside China.

On today's financial news

* Deflation is worse than inflation. When the company finds out that the finished products have to sell at lower prices, they have to cut down on future products.

* All green energies depend on government subsidies. They are not competitive especially today with falling oil prices (however, only about 5% of oil is used to generate electricity). How much you can save in a Tesla especially after the huge initial investment? If it continues, Tesla will be a nice museum piece.

* Iran could be the most westernized country in the region. U.S. is busy in politics and late in making money as history has repeated itself.

* Is N.Korea's missile technology helped by China? I'm sure China's missile technology benefits from the US. First the father of Chinese missile returned after the communism witch hunt with practical experiences and recently the almost perfect record after the US company told them how to fix the problem of a crash.

* Macau did better than Las Vegas and still is doing great. There may be a camera used by the Chinese government to catch the corrupted 'whales'. I mentioned it when the anti-corruption campaign came out. Chinese do one thing at a time - like catching all the flies (now all the 'whales').

* The dropping merger of the two tech companies (United & Honeywell) is good for the country - less layoff and more competition (via spending more on research).

* Is Yahoo!'s auction in EBay? I would submit a bid of $1.

The new normal

Have you noticed that the index performance was (still is I bet) wrong in MarketWatch on 3/1? The Arrow and Color indicated the market was down but actually it was up. It is so basic. If it happened in my old company, the programmer and his/her manager would be fired.

Before I posted in Facebook, they asked me to select all the pictures of a lion. I skipped those pictures with two lions and they told me I was wrong. They need to hire someone graduated from high school.
They told me they're college graduates. Another sad day for our education system!

Have you watched the movie "Idiocracy"? If you do, you understand what I mean.

Mediocrity is the new norm?

A guru's loss

Ackman’s loss is our lessons.

·         They have been preached in this book such as diversification.

·         Even with the best evaluation, sometimes we still lose.

·         Use mental stop loss.

·         Do not follow any guru blindly.

·         “Buy Low and Sell High” is better than “Buy High and Sell Higher”.

·         Do we want to buy VRX today at $65.45? As of 3/1/2016, P/E is less than 5 and P/FCF is less than 11. It seems to be a good buy but the Debt/Equity is about 5 times.

·         The insider sold almost 1 billion worth of the stock in June, 2015 – not a good sign for sure.

Do more research such as from Seeking Alpha and many other sources. When they resolve the problem, it could be a buy.
