China has accomplished a lot in 2020 in science, technology and applications. This article could be the shortest in this book, but could take longest time to read. It consists a lot of links to YouTube and web articles. Search new material yourself as this article could be outdated fast from the pace of China’s advancements.
The general young age of the Chinese scientists is just amazing. They will contribute a lot in the near future for a long time to China and to the world.

Most Chinese live in 600 square feet flat (my estimate). Hence, how would most of these advancements benefit an average Chinese at home? Driver-less cars needs 5G; the problem of U.S. is lack of enough 5G coverage.

We need to subsidize our research and welcome top scientists to come and work in U.S. We will not see benefits within 4 years (election cycle), so they will not be approved by our politicians. When we work together, the world will benefit. The race is to use the computer to find drugs and vaccines.

We had put all eggs in the shuttle project and failed miserably. Without decent rockets, we had to ask Russia to transport to our International space station. The high maintenance and safety issues killed the shuttle project. Almost all projects such as Boston’s Big Dig start out rosy without ‘unpredictable’ problems, then they are over-budgeted and do not meet schedule. Lastly we find culprits and blame everyone instead ourselves.

China should open more colleges and hence save a lot of foreign currencies. Chinese students face a lot of competition to enter colleges, and they are very hard working. Before the pandemic, I estimate about 1/3 of all foreign students were from China, and most paid full tuition.
