More than a joke

This is what I heard. What is 8*3? Eight guys said 24 and one said 23. They argued for the entire day and finally they let the judge settle it. The judge said the 8 folks were damn wrong and fined them $3 each for a total of $23. Obviously they asked why. The judge said, “You guys are stupid to argue with some illogical guy for the entire day and wasted my time.”

The lesson is: Do not waste time in arguing with illogical guys and that’s why I never argue with you.

China, the human rights lover

Agree that you find it contradictory. Hopefully at the end of this article you agree with me more. With an open mind, please read on. I compare U.S. and China on human rights.

Human rights have priorities: Food, Shelter, Clothing, Job, Freedom… China in the last 30 years have lifted millions from starving to death. From 1950 to 1961, millions starved to death during the big famine. Today, very, very few starve to death in China. Deng deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for that, but instead Obama got one for doing nothing.

Compared to U.S. and many European countries, China is not up to their standard, which was set up by them. However, comparing China 40 years ago, freedom in China has grown by leaps and bounds.

China does not afford to have the same freedom as the West as it is still a developing country on its way to becoming one. For example, China does not have the resources to have a similar trial on O.J. Simpson. Even he was found guilty, a two-cent bullet is far cheaper than the $31,000 USD per year per inmate in the USA.

China has strict laws and punishment, where the West would find it violates the prisoners’ human rights. You are only right if you ignore the rights of the victims.

When there are CCTVs everywhere, the West would find China violating the citizens’ privacy rights. The potential crime committers would think twice if they realize they can be caught easily and they would have to hide for the rest of the lives. When there is automatic death sentence to rape an under-aged kid, do they still commit this crime such as Epstein's crime in the U.S.?

Social Credit System is another way to cut down riots and protests. For a wealthy country, riots and protests are needed to remind the government on social injustice. China will reach this eventually.

Most Chinese do not care about being watched by the government. It could be due to different culture. Most Chinese do not want to fight against the government as their living standard has been improved substantially in the last 30 years.
Most Chinese feel safe in public places such as cinemas and schools. Gun control is a violation of individual rights here. Is constant shooting not a human rights violation?

We want other countries to follow our standard and our culture. It does not always work especially in the poorer countries. If you do not follow our standard, we and our allies will isolate / embargo your country. China has a non-interference clause and does not force any country to follow their ideals. For example, China does not force any country to join their “One Belt, One Road” projects.

China does not practice communism as communism does not allow individuals to set up stores. The major fault of communism is discouraging her citizens to work hard. All political systems have faults and advantages. Our fault is the constant arguing from our two political parties.

Even rich countries such as U.S. have homeless folks and many live from paycheck to paycheck. Both countries are facing the problem of wide wealth gap (a human rights to me). But, China is working hard via the governance’s actions.

Racial discrimination exists in both countries. When I was in China, I could tell the cultures of minorities were maintained. There is no ‘one-child policy’ for minorities in China.

China should put higher priorities in public heath, clean air, clean water and safety regulations. Unfortunately, freedom of speech has been reversed a little recently.

Wuhan's coronavirus

As of 2/2020, more than 1,200 have died of this disease in China while the seasonal flu has over 8,500 deaths in the U.S. There will be impact to the global economies, particularly on China. The root cause has not been found. There are rumors and some are more of conspiracy theories:

Causes

·         Caused by Chinese eating game food. It is likely but there is no proof so far.
·         A YouTube (deleted now) indicates it was caused by two Chinese scientists stole the virus and it was escaped from the lab in Wuhan.
·         There are many rumors spread around the internet that the virus was spread intentionally from U.S. Some concluded that it was more powerful than tariff in a trade war. They listed a lot of coincident and reasons. The virus broke out shortly after the Wuhan’s military Olympics. The U.S. athletes did not win a gold this time and only this time. What did these athletes do? I hope it is not true. Otherwise, some country or terrorists would do the same to us some day.

Hope the truth will come out after the control of this virus. Also China and many other countries will take preventive actions such as limiting eating games. China should also set up an organization such as CDC to speed up the warning without waiting for the no in Beijing. China should put public health, clean water and clear air to higher priority. Making money should be in the back seat.

We also see both the good sides and bad sides of human beings.

The good sides
The current generation of Japanese are educated, polite, generous and civilized. Translated (with a lot of changes in using Facebook’s translation) a broadcast from a Japanese TV:

The Japanese special plane will fly to Wuhan tomorrow to pick up the Japanese who are stranded in Hubei province, especially Wuhan city. The plane is not empty; it will fly to Wuhan with relief supplies to Wuhan. The medical team of 1,000 people will also be sent to Wuhan, compared to South Korean petition to stop Chinese tourists from entering, Taiwanese refused to export the mouth masks to China, the Philippines deported Chinese tourists, and North Korea banned Chinese people from entering. The Japanese government quickly recruit factories, overtime making masks, etc.

Now the streets of Tokyo and Osaka are full of cheers for Wuhan. I hope that our fellow compatriots will remember this scene. No matter where disaster encounters, be considerate and helpful with actions. Love has no boundaries in race or country!

Another incident: a Japanese 14-year old asked for donation for Wuhan in the wintry weather.

I can forgive them for the terrible deeds to China during WW2. This generation of Japan has nothing to do with the war.

The bad side
There are at least two ‘famous internet posters’ in Hong Kong posting YouTube videos against the Hong Kong government aggressively every day. They must be financed and/or they are Chinese bashers. No matter what nationality you are, you should be proud of your country especially during a disaster.

China has gained points in building a hospital in 10 days. For them it is a death concentration camp. How ridiculous! They oppose everything the Hong Kong government do for no reasons.

Some doctors and nurses in Hong Kong wanted a strike if their political points were not approved by the government. They forget why they wanted to go to this professional. I saw many taking this opportunity to promote their political views. It is a disaster and these political views have OPPOSITE effects to me.  What happens if they themselves or their family members have this virus? Well to me, they should go to the lowest level of hell. U.S. is spreading bad news on this virus while China did not do the same on U.S.’s H1N1 in 2009. A tale of two countries! Check it out and judge it yourself.
