My Chinese English

I have not written anything more than two pages (except some specifications) during my entire career as a programmer. Writing in English is a challenge to me, and not knowing my limit is stupid. However, I can say my English most likely is better than your Chinese, provided you are not Chinese. LOL.

I found out the best way to improve my English is using “Compose” in Gmail. It is far better than Word (mine is an old version). Please comment the following that I recently found out in Gmail.

·         “Smart phone“ can be one word as “smartphone”, and so are “web site” and many others.

·         The following are not too clear to me: There is no plural form in “advice”. The “a billion dollar” is another one.

·         “Chinese” should be “The Chinese” if it is referred to as the people, but without “the” if it is referred to as the language.

·         “S&P500” should be “S&P 500”.

·         How can you “flying on a jet plane” (only Afghans can do so, which is a sad joke)? It should be “in”. Did Peter, Paul and Mary screw it up?

The following book “A nuclear war with China? Concise Edition” is available free from today Friday to the coming Monday. Some ideas were from my watching/reading some YouTube videos and books. I translated some of their ideas, and hope the readers, especially Americans, will understand what the others think about our once-great country. It is my way of killing time.
