Here are my thoughts and summaries from many YouTube videos.
· China’s winter sports are not as good as the summer sports. In summer sports, the US / West have limited China’s medal count by 1) limit the number of athletes in sports that China dominates such as weight lifting and table tennis; we do not have the same limits in the sports we dominate such as field and swimming.
· Many foreign athletes convert their citizenships to the U.S.’s in order to participate in the Olympics. There are two cases where our citizens compete for China, and Gu is one of them; she could possibly win 3 golds while China only got one in the last winter Olympics. Money talks or just patriotism? We set up an unwritten rule that this is a tractor’s act, but foreign sports folks are OK to compete for us.
· China and the relationship with us have changed a lot from the summer Olympics about 1 and a half decades ago. Bush was in Beijing in 2008. China’s new airport was opened for the last Olympics in Beijing, and now they have another new airport that is more advanced than the previous one that was quite modern already. What do we have? Big Dig which has more problems than anticipated. China’s high-speed rail has about 60% of the world’s total, and we have a few miles.
· The pandemic limits traveling in this Olympics. Otherwise, reports should go to Xinjiang to verify the genocide first hand.
· Many athletes cheer enthusiastically on the state-of-the-art beds and robot cooks; many complain about the cardboard bed in Tokyo’s summer Olympics, the expensive food and the gold-surfaced medals. The athletes receive an expensive welcome bag including a top-of-the-line Samsung's foldable phone. The 5G may not be usable in some athletes’ home countries. If it is propaganda, it is the most effective money can buy. [A joke: I do not mind the cardboard bed as I can disassemble it and take it home.]
· My predictions work in most of the time: The ETF for the country that hosts the Olympics should be doing well next year. It did not do so for Greece, as it is too small a country to host this global gathering and it had built a lot of white elephants. The U.S., Germany, U.N., China, Japan and S. Korea should be the host in all future Olympics if there is no new economic power. China is reusing the Bird’s Nest and the dormitories should be an example to recycle the resources.
· This Olympics stresses on technology, recycling and green energy including low-carbon energy, high-speed trains, reusable facilities and dorms, 5G, hydrogen buses, chef-less and waiter-less restaurants, etc.
· Hope any international event such as this Winter Olympics will not be politicized. The network station, the athletes and the sponsors of this Olympics keep their mouths shut trying not to upset the U.S. and China. Let the game start and let everyone say what s/he wants as it is free speech as long as it is not political.
Imagine there are no countries, will the world be a better one? We only compete in the Olympics, should we give peace a chance? Have this idea while listening to the song “Imagine” during the open ceremony.
#Filler: A joke or “facts”
Under legal advice, Chinese boys have to declare that they are not responsible after the second drink to their dates. Chinese are lacking a specific enzyme.
For the same reason, the native Indians and Eskimos lack this enzyme too and that's why some of them are drunks (not verified). However, it verifies that they are Chinese or Mongolians and their ancestors crossed the Bering Strait (which was frozen at one time) after too many drinks or escaping from wars - a history no one verified. Treat the above as jokes and I am not responsible for jokes.
