* Defending China

Can China say no to us?

One belt, One Road.  More.

The politicians cannot fix our problems and use China as a convenient scapegoat. Many newspapers, TV stations... want to sell their stuffs by giving what you want to hear/see by twisting the facts.

As a Chinese American, I am naturally biased but I'll not let my dumb nationalism to cover my eyes or yours. There are Chinese bashers and US bashers who do not convince us as they're not using facts. They promote distrust, confrontation, ... that I try to avoid.

Tibet. This comment has over 350 'likes' in an Economist's article. I estimate there are  3,500 reads (using 1 'like'  to 10 readers) on this long comment. Initially I faced many resentment from folks esp. from Tibetans in other articles.

Human Right. This blog has ignited discussions and scored some points for China. This one and the last one change the image of China for some.

China is a victim instead of an aggressor for last 250 years. A MUST read for Brits and Japanese.

Contrary to what you're thinking, my primary reason of blogging is not because of the plenty of free time in my early retirement. English is not my native language and being an ITer I have not written much during my career. I have never taken courses in social science and investment besides the required in college. It has to be the fun of trying something different and I enjoy it so far.

I find a lot of newspaper and on-line articles particular on China look right but are totally wrong. I try to use common sense to argue against them.

As I'm not using my full name, I'm not blogging for promoting myself and I have nothing to sell you. You may feel offended sometimes as I blog honestly and I do not care about political correctness and popular opinions (I'm not running for a political job).

Click the highlighted to access the blog. Hence, this blog serves as a rough table of content of the better blogs I wrote for last several years.

My contributions.
* The reason of secular stock market. As indicated by many articles, we've secular market about 20 years interval. My contribution is the cause. It is most likely due to wars for secular bear markets (Vietnam and the two current wars) or lack of for secular bull markets. The next, new bull secular market could start in 2015.

* Coconut Theory on why some natives are lazy naturally. So far no one objects or they're too lazy to defend themselves.

* Global Aging Demographics. I blogged years ago that India's explosive population growth is no good for India and the world. However, even today the popular belief of a larger and younger population is better for India including an article by a professor in a prestigious college.

* How Hong Kong gets so wealthy? A Stanford professor in a syndicated article (it means it has been published in most newspapers that Sunday) told the world that the British rule could make a poor country prosperous using Hong Kong as an example. I argued it was totally wrong and the primary reason for Hong Kong's wealth is its closeness to China then and now.

* Debunking some of Buffett's preachings. I only blog if my views are different to popular beliefs/opinions as I do not want to waste the bandwidth and electronic ink not counting  wasting your time.  Actually most investing heroes are not doing good recently.

On Nice attack

I've to re-post (and enhance) this one every time we have another attack. Nice is one of the most beautiful places we've visited.

Newton's Law: For every action (bombing the Middle East), there is a reaction (terrorist attacks). Now, the reverse is true. It seems I'm watching a Kung Fu movie with the endless revenges. Newton covered more than physics. We have been misinterpreting the teachings in the holy books. Are all religions supposed to teach us not to kill? Fighting has been for centuries between Christians and Muslims. One should not be affected if s/he is neither a Christian nor a Muslim but not in the cruel reality.

We've been dragged to their conflicts by Israel who controls our Congress by giving them money. Does the Bible predict Israel will be surrounded by enemies? If so, we should isolate their conflicts by not participating.

When the US sent soldiers to the Middle East, I was among the 30% minority to oppose it. The young  are sent to the front line. Most National Guards treat them as good exercises and chances of playing some 'toys'. They should enjoy the best time of their lives in college instead of being sent back in body bags. Most do not understand the conflicts and the geography.

If we sent the children of our leaders to the front line to fight, there will not be any one sent to the front line for this war. Being number one is for the quest for power by our leaders, not for the common citizens.

Although the stock market is good now, the economy is not especially for the long term. It will take more than one generation to pay back the non-productive expenses for the wars. That's why many college graduates are still working for jobs that they do not have to go to college for.

If they do not want to fight for their freedom, why should we do it for them? Are we suckers?

Our leaders, the Christians, the Muslims, most citizens from Middle East, the 1%ers… most likely do not agree with my observations. However, we do not have to agree with each other in order to be peaceful. "Forgiveness" is the most powerful word in any language. Give peace a chance, please!

Republican Convention

This post has been written 4 years or more ago. Surprisingly nothing has changed.

-----

Why do we need to know Mitt (or any candidate from any political party) is officially nominated or he will accept the nomination?  Who has turned it down in our history? If this is the main purpose of the convention, it is a TOTAL waste of money and time that can be used to deal with our real problems such as how to cut down spending. Isn’t it ironic or demonstrating how the big government wastes our money or how big business buys influence?

If you really do not know whom will be nominated (I'm shamelessly insulting your intelligence and assuming you have been living in a cave for the last year), just watch the news on TV and save millions.

The convention must be sponsored by airlines, hotels, restaurants and Florida or big businesses / special groups wanting influences. The hidden sponsors are the prostitutes and the drug companies who provide Viagra and condones. They are the winners of this convention, not the handsome Mitt and his lovely wife. All the conventioneers using other folks’ money to wine and dine are the free loaders and parasites. Sorry to offend all the politicians and their running dogs.

I like to attend any convention if someone is stupid or rich enough to pay for this unearned but lavish vacation – I’ll vote whatever you want me to. Sign me up for any convention, Republican or Democratic, now or future. I hope it will be in Hawaii or somewhere without any hurricane and with great and expensive food. You will pay for it eventually one way or another.

I must have some mental problems if I talk to an empty chair with a ghost rocking on it. When you guys laugh at the chair, you might have a more serious mental problem than I. Even with no one sitting on it, the chair still rocks. It symbolizes the do-nothing government could be the best government as it rocks! My point is we need a small, frugal and effective government. The best government is invisible but it provides all the basic services at the least cost!
